We left early on Friday morning to visit the College of Charleston and speak to the authors of First in the South: Why South Carolina's Presidential Primary Matters, H. Gibbs Knotts and Jordan M. Ragusa. They offered a lot of great insight into the primary in South Carolina and explained their data in a way that was very digestible.
After the session with the professors, we were released onto the streets of Charleston for a couple hours to take in the city. What a gorgeous town! We had fun picking through a couple stores and visiting a locally-owned bookstore called Buxton Books (I highly recommend it if you find yourself bookless in Charleston).
Our walk around Charleston was a brief reprieve from politicking, but we quickly got back into the vans and headed towards another Haley campaign event on the eve of the primary.
